Northland College Kapuhaka

Northland College, Kaikohe, as regional finalists, performed at the N.Z. secondary schools Kapuhaka (cultural) competition in Hamilton - 5 hours drive south of Kaikohe - against other finalists from throughouut New Zealand. The group has been practising for months in preparation, and to be placed highly in this competition, is very prestigious for the school.Northland College has a roll of 450 students, 90% of whom are Maori; and Maori tradition, pride and mana are integral to the school and region.

Kia Ora Pango,
Sorry about the misspelling - story in Northern news showed spelling as Kapa Haka (2 words), hope you agreed with the rest of the story. Although non -Maori myself,I take great pride in our young people perpetuating their culture.
